About us
Community-Led Environmental Restoration in Southwest Nigeria
We are a community-centred, environmentally focused organisation dedicated to reversing land degradation, promoting climate-smart agriculture, and revitalising ecosystems across Southwest Nigeria. By combining environmental restoration with rural empowerment, WGEI places communities at the heart of sustainable development.
Rooted in grassroots engagement with over 250 small holder farmers in collaboration with Labshack Farms, WGEI was established to scale climate-smart solu ons, revive degraded land, strengthen rural livelihoods, and foster long-term ecological balance.

Southwest Agroecology Incubation Hub (SAIH) 2026
The Southwest Agroecology Incubation Hub (SAIH) is a flagship initiative of The West Groves Empowerment Initiative (WGEI) dedicated to empowering smallholder farmers through regenerative agriculture, agroecology, and climate-smart farming practices.
Across four community-based hubs in Ogun, Osun, and Oyo States, SAIH will equip farmers with practical skills in sustainable cassava and maize production, soil restoration, agroforestry, indigenous tree crop development, community seed systems, post-harvest management, and agribusiness development.
The programme aims to build resilient farming communities by combining indigenous knowledge with modern agricultural innovation, helping farmers improve productivity, protect natural ecosystems, and create sustainable livelihoods for future generations.
